The Zirbenweg trail is one of the most beautiful and best marked mountain trails in Tirol and is also part of the Tirolean Eagle Walk. The trail winds its way almost flat through a pristine nature reserve and ancient pine forests.
Enjoy the serene beauty of the Alps' largest pine forest and soak up the fantastic view of the Inntal and the Nordkette mountain range. Numerous benches line the trail for hikers to rest and enjoy the scenery, and there are interpretive panels providing information on the local flora and fauna.
Route 1: Start in Tulfes and take the Glungezer cable car to the Tulfeinalm. Follow the Zirbenweg trail to Patscherkofel, take the Patscherkofel cable car down to Igls and return to Tulfes by public bus. Walking time: about 2.5 hrs.; total time incl. cable car and bus rides: approx. 4 hrs.
Route 2: Start in Igls and take the Patscherkofel cable car to the Panorama Restaurant. Follow the Zirbenweg trail to Tulfeinalm, take Glungezer cable car down to Tulfes and return to Igls by public bus. Walking time: approx. 2.5 hrs; total time incl. cable car and bus rides: approx. 4 hrs.

For both ways you have to change bus in Sistrans Dorf.
Please consider the hours of operation:
Patscherkofelbahn: 9am to 12pm and 12.45pm to 4.30pm.
On Sundays and holidays in July and August: the last gondola down is at 5pm.
Glungezerbahn: Monday to Friday
8.30am to 12pm and from 1pm to 4.30pm.
Saturday, Sunday and holidays
8.30am to 12pm and from 1pm to 5pm.
